Pews News – 8 April 2018

  1. Welcome to the kirk and a special welcome to Joanne Elizabeth Gray and Denise Russell who have come to Stenton to be ordained a selders and Maisie James May Buchanan who has come to Prestoinkirk to be baptised. May the peace of God be with you!
  2. Coffee is served after morning worship at Stenton and from 10-15am in Prestonkirk.
  3. Flowers arranged by Susan Kinnaird (Stenton) and Patricia Brown (Prestonkirk). Readers are Bill Stevenson (Stenton) and Ewan Brown (Prestonkirk). Intercessions led by Margaret Jeffrey (Stenton) and Irene Heron (Prestonkirk).
  4. Children are always welcome to worship with us. At Stenton, there is an activity for the children after the children’s address. At Prestonkirk, children are invited to go down to the Stables after the second hymn for a related craft activity. Crèche in the Smeaton Room.
  5. Donations for the Foodbank at Tranent will be picked up from Prestonkirk this morning.
  6. Next Sunday, the minister will be on holiday. Morning worship will be conducted by the Revd. Ian Scott, formerly minister at Greenbank, Edinburgh.
  7. Following the success of last year’s initiatives, we are organising a series of fundraisers fro Christian Aid. If you would like to organise a Coffee Morning, Afternoon Tea or other event with your friends and raise some money for Christian Aid, please contact Anne Masson t: 01368 850317.
  8. The Stenton Singers have a concert with wine and savouries on 28 April at 7-30pm and a concert with Daffodil Tea on 29 April at 3pm both in the Village Hall, Stenton. Tickets cost £10 for Homestart, Dunbar and Dunbar Twinning. Available from Moya Ramsay t: 01368 850283.
  9. ‘The Rugged Pathway’ – An East Lothian Pilgrimage on Saturday 5 May beginning at St. Mary’s, Haddington at 9-45am and finishing at St. Mary’s, Whitekirk at 4-30pm, passing through Prestonkirk at 2-00pm.
