A Happy New Year! Welcome to Stenton Kirk on the first Sunday of the year for this joint act of worship. A special welcome to Mairi Leach who is playing the organ and to members of the parish who usually worship at Prestonkirk! May the peace of God go with you!
If you are visiting, please introduce yourself to a member of the kirk. Coffee and bacon rolls (a real New Year treat!) will be served after morning worship today. Flowers have been arranged by Angie Simpson. Our readers are John/Christian Lindsay and Tom Middlemass.
Children are especially welcome to worship with us. Following the children’s address, there will be a craft activity for the children in the kirk around the red horseshoe table.
The Guild resumes its programme of events on Tuesday 8 January at 2-15pm with a discussion led by the minister on a topic chosen by the Church of Scotland Guild on ‘The Unexpected Journeys’.
The Sunday School at Prestonkirk and the 4U Group resumes next Sunday.
The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated after morning worship in both kirks next Sunday.
The J-Team begins again on Wednesday 16 January at 4pm in the Village Hall, Stenton – ‘Telling Tales 11 – The Baptism of Jesus’.
On 20 January, the 4U Group is organising a Bake Stall in the Stables after morning worship at Prestonkirk to raise much needed funds for the Winter Night Shelter at Bethany Christian Trust. It costs £21 per bed space or £260,000 per winter!
Many thanks indeed to all those who contributed to the offering at the ‘Carols at Stenton’ with the Stenton Singers. Well over £800 was raised for LORD – Late Onset of Retina Degeneration. The research will also help the macular eye deficiency as well.
