Pews News – 23 December 2018

  1. Welcome to the kirk – and the last part of our journey along the little road to Bethlehem! May the peace of God go with you!
  2. Coffee is served after morning worship in Stenton and from 10-15am in Prestonkirk. Flowers have been arranged by Judith Fowler  (Stenton) and Audrey Affleck  (Prestonkirk). Our readers are Denise Russell (Stenton) and Marco Horn (Prestonkirk).
  3. Children are always welcome to worship with us. At Stenton, there is an activity for the children after the children’s address. At Prestonkirk, children are invited to participate in a craft activity down in the Stables.
  4. Tomorrow night, there will be a Christingle Service at 5-30pm in the Community Hall, East Linton followed by seasonal hospitality. Children who would like to make their own Christingle should come to the Hall from 5pm onwards. All the ingredients will be provided. 
  5. At 7pm, there will be the traditional ‘Carols Around the Fountain’ in East Linton.
  6. This year, the Watchnight Service is at Prestonkirk at 11-30pm with hospitality in the Stables from 10-45pm. There will be an offering for Christian Aid.
  7. On Christmas Day, there will be an act of worship for all ages in Prestonkirk at 10am.  Children are invited to bring along one of their gifts from Santa Claus if they like. There will be an offering for Christian Aid.
  8. Next Sunday, there will be an act of worship in both kirks – ‘A Christmas Tale’ with carols and readings, suitable for all ages.
  9. On Sunday 6 January, there will be a joint service at Stenton at 9-30am to mark the New Year and Epiphany. Bacon rolls to follow.
